Retro 101 was founded by technical genius Toby Lethby and Gamestyle Retro editor Gareth Chappell. Writer Dan Gill also added much needed content along with a host of guest writers from the world of video game journalism.
This version of the site is now almost exclusively run by Gareth. This new style allows for content to be uploaded quickly while keeping the site running well. The site is also now more focused on video reviews.
You'll still get all that retro goodness but now we hope it will be easier to find and look that little bit more sparkly.

Hi Gareth,
ReplyDeleteI'm a long time reader first time caller!
Late last year my brother and I wrote our first retro inspired game called Pangaroids and put it on steam - for FREE so that everyone can enjoy. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1835040/Pangaroids/
Inspired by old school arcade classics (including Pang and Asteroids), Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 games, and a simpler time when games didn’t have to be hundreds of hours long, we’ve crafted a short game that we hope takes you back to that nostalgic time.
It's also old-school hard! Survive as long as you can while blasting bouncing balls, collecting high scoring powerups, and getting the highest score you can before you die.
I wrote the music for the game, inspired by 8 bit games from my youth. I would love it if you could check it out and let me know what you think.
Anyways, keep up the good work!
